Once someone is banned, is it permanent? What does one have to do to become "unbanned"?

Sometimes it's permanent and sometimes it's just for a period of time...in which case, the person would have to wait so long and then they'd be allowed back on. IMO-if the board had cause enough to ban someone....they don't deserve back on! We have enough to worry about w/o troublemakers

There are many reasons to ban people for different lengths of time. Sometimes, people just need some time to cool off, grow up, or move on from an issue.
If you have questions about a specific person, feel free to email the Mods or myself. We will answer your question as best we can.

I agree with this all the way! I personally don't think it's right for people that have been banned for a very good reason, to be let back on just because they are so annoying to the mods through email and having their friends PM the mods till they get their way. I see this as being very childish and a fine display of why they were banned to begin with. I feel for the mods that have to deal with these people. It's sad when it's easier for the mods just to let them back in because they keeped getting harrassed. Once again I would like to thank the mods for doing a great job and dealing with all the dooky that nobody else wants to. :)

No need, it's just interesting to see someone get re-instated almost immediately after they were banned, not nearly enough time to grow up in my opinion.

I DO know from experience that sometimes an ISP is unbanned because there is more than one member from that ISP...this has happened to me :) and I told the other user that they weren't to come back here...that the only reason our ISP was unbanned was because I kindly asked the mods to be unbanned so that I (not the other user) could post here...however, I do feel for the mods that have to put up with people whining to get back in...or those that switch screen names to get back in...or those that have their friends whine to get back in...the list goes on and on for the mods. I wouldn't want to do their job, people that were banned would be so permanently :) if someone gets on my nerves enough to be banned in the first place, hey, they had it coming...it's not like they aren't given warning

I agree, there was a reason that they were banned in the first place, nobody wants to have to put up with them again.

Who determines the length of time, and are people ever actually just invited back, or do they have to bug the mods or admin. till they get their way?

The length of the ban is decided on a case by case basis. If an individual's ban is lifted, for whatever reason as decided by the mod(s) and/or admin(s), there are restrictions!
6. Members whose accounts have been disabled for whatever reason and rejoin will be understood that they have a zero tolerance policy. This means 1 strike your out. Continued creation of accounts may result in immediate banning.
