Does anyone know if Spike's delight is any good at all and if so, could i just add a little to her reg diet as an "extra"? I live in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada.

Some hedgehog breeders like it and add it to their mix. I personally do not like to order food when I have other great brands available here. So I make a mix of Blue Buffalo Lite, Royal Canin 38 Slim, and Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul Adult and Lite formula.

There are other cat foods out there that are MUCH better quality.
Buffalo Blue, Royal Canin Slim 38, Chicken soup for the cat lovers soul lite and adult, wysong, and wellness just to name a few.
Compare the ingredients, youll see the difference in quality.

Thank you for the cat food information.......I know about all of those brands, which are available here also, and after researching labels here, I chose the Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul lite. That is her main kibble. It had the closest to the requirements that I could find out of all of those brands. I just wanted to add a little something extra that could be a supplemental food that would keep long term and could be added to her staple diet. :) By the way is Spike's Delight only available through ordering on line, Or can you buy it in the Stores?

Spike's Delight is not available anywhere around here. I use CSFTCLS moistened just a little for Odo. I have a bag of Spike's Delight and have given her a little here and there but to date she has not eaten any of it.

Is there a specific reason why youre moistening Odo's food? ( ie bad teeth)
If there isnt, you may want to consider just leaving the food as is. When damp, the food will go bad faster in terms of bacteria etc. As well, eating damp food all the time might cause teeth and gum problems further down the road.
JMO though :)

I suggested he moisten her food. She wasn't eating very much and I wondered if it was too hard for her. She is eating it now that it's moistened. Some kibbles are really hard and I find sometimes from bag to bag of the same brand can be much harder. :)
I just started moistening Cinders also. She seems to struggle so with it. She has a dish of regular and then a dish with about 10 pieces of moistened food.

JMO though :) A perfectly good question, and thanks for asking. No, I should have been clearer. She gets a choice every night of some damp and some hard food. I have been trying to wean her off of mealies. I was giving her WAY to many and she got to where she wouldn't eat anything else. Following Teaslesmom fine suggestion, I have been offering Odo both foods. The more she eats the soft, the less I will give her and the more hard she will get. It's working so far. She is fine, it's just my stupidness that got her hooked on the mealies to begin with. She now gets one in the morning and one in the evening along with a choice of 1 cheerio (broken up) and a tiny piece of a different fruit each night. She is eating much better and soon will be back on mostly hard food.

Help! I don't want to feed my Aleena Spike's anymore (it's what her breeder gave us). I have a bag of Royal Canin 38 and some ProPlan Salmon (for variety) but.... Aleena suffers from severe colitis including prolapse rectum which is likely caused by food allergies. She is not allergic to Spike's as far as we can tell. All her bouts have been caused by canned cat food (which I've given as treats), crickets or medicine. My concern is should I switch her and run the risk (she is on cortisone-type med) or should I not? I've only had her since August (she's about 3) and have been forced to learn as much about hedgehogs as I can in a very short amount of time.
