Hi, I am new at this forum, but a long time Hedgie owner. At the moment I have one female chocolate white, who is about 3 1/2 months. I am considering breeding her once she is old enough, but I am running into issues that I need some help with.

I already know what kind of commitment and responsibilties that are required, and how to go about finding good and safe homes for any babies that are born. My problem seems to be that I can find lots of information about the USDA license, and how to get one, but I can't find anything about licenses in Canada. I have asked around; city hall, the animals rescue league, and the SPCA, but no one could give me an answer, and the answer I got from the SPCA was that a license is required, but they don't know what kind or how to get it. So, like always, they Maritime's SPCA officers prove to be useless yet again. it's never a surprise here.

So I guess I need help from some fellow Canadian breeders on what to do, and if any American neighbours know anything that would help, I would thouroughly appreciate it....

Also, are there any Maritime breeders who would have a male hedgie around march break that "ISN'T": Chocolate, brown, or brown snowflake???

I'm in Saint John, and I was threatened by an SPCA officer that if I tried to breed then he would take all of my animals, not just my Hedgehog. I just want to make sure nothing bad happens, so THANK YOU so very much ^_^, if he tries anything then I'll make **** sure he has no job left, no one here thinks he does his job by the book and would love to see him gone.

How much would you sell the male for?

I don't think an SPCA officer could ever remove animals just because you were breeding unless there was neglect or a prior conviction of some type.

No he can't legally take my pets away for the **** of it, but he did threaten me that if I didn't have a license he would. He's rather odd to me in any case, he seems to do his job in a round-about-way ... meaning that it seems he's only interested in taking animals away after receiving bribes of some sort, but like I said, that's our SPCA for ya.

$200 isn't so bad for an albino, and I probably would consider ... but would you consider negotiating it down to $150???

Thanks for all the info btw ... I appreciate it.
