Disease?

Are there any diseases that hedgehogs can pass on to humans? If so, what are they and how do they affect humans? What are the chances of a hedgehog getting one of these diseases. :confused:

I have never recieved any diseases from my hedgehogs. It is theoretically possible to recieve diseases such as salmonella fro hedgehogs, but with good food handling practices (for both you and hedgehogs) and proper handwashing, the chances of your hedgehog getting these diseases and passing them on to you is very slim.

Washing hands thoroughly after handling raw meats, NEVER feeding raw or undercooked meat to your hedgehog, washing hands before handling any food items........
