my chin are not caged, they have their own room that i thought was totaly safe. that was until we put a little dresser in there room because they loved to hide in the drawers. my sammi got stuck behind it and couldn't get out. it was a matter of hours that he was back there. i am in there room checking on them like ten times a day. my husband built a chin friendly room for them with cardboard boxes tunnels, everything, but they loved the dresser in our room thats why we put it in there room. i never thought one could get stuck behind there and die. we both still be sick when we think how sammi died. we miss him so much.
rest in peace sammi bear.
love mommy, daddy, lucky (beigh chin), chinsee (grey)

I am so sorry about your loss...sometimes chinnies can be so smart and yet so helpless at the same time. Jett is in a good and loving place now...just think of the happy times often. Please take care!:(

You know, pretty much everything needs to be chin-proofed! Some are actually good little boys and girls, but others well, you know what I mean. And darn their memories...they remember everything the first time around!! But that is part of their chinnie charm...love them cuties.

I know it is amazing at what they fiqure out. All of mine know when they see the keys (for the cage locks) its time to come out and they start going crazy and start biting on the locks.
Thanks to all who replied to this post, You all have made this a little easier to deal with
Hugs to you all!!

I'm sorry to hear about Jettson. That is very sad. :(
Thank you for posting your experience so those of us that have these type of cages, myself included, are aware of potential problems. Take care.
