Hi there, My hedgie Scritchy has been very agressive lately, and has been hissing and clicking for hours on end. I was able to get her to let me look at her back legs, where the skin where they join her body is very red, and lacks some fur. At closer look, the joining area appears to be swollen, and like a large lump, the size of a nickel. Has this ever happened to anyone, and was there anything you can do in the meantime to make her more comfortable? (I am guessing it hurts due to her outright anger when she is picked up, or disturbed in any way.) She does continue to eat, and poop. Any thoughts please?

I would definitely take Scritchy to a vet right away. It may be an infection of some sort and should not wait till it gets worse. Good luck.

Yes, I agree with Moose.

These kind of injury will not heal (sp?) by itself.

I also suggest to see a vet ASAP.

Good luck !

A vet needs to look at the lump to determine exactly what it is and how to treat it. I've seen hedgehogs get sprains and cause a swelling, and I've also seen tumors and abcesses cause swellings.
