I have found a breeder where i live and plan to go check out some freshly weaned hedgies on wednesday, however while doing some research on hedge's and their needs i came accross this web page. I was just wondering, i have heard that hedge's arent really good for holding and cuddling and that they really dont like to be held at all and i have also heard that they do enjoy to be snuggled and cuddled every once in a while ...can someone point out which one of those statements is the myth for me?

It really depends on the hedgie. Some like to cuddle and others don't. Some like to cuddle sometimes and others all the time and other ones hate to. I wouldn't say that they aren't "good for holding and cuddling" it's really up to them if they are :)

Each hedgie has their own unique personality- just like people.
Some dont mind being cuddled at all, and infact seem to enjoy it, and will fall alseep on your lap. Others dont want to sit still, and would rather be running around exploring and causing havoc ;)
In short, it depends on the hedgie :)

I have several hedgehogs and they all have unique and differing personalities. Some days they will sleep in my lap for hours and then wake up and want to run around and get into everything. Sometimes they are content to stay in my lap forever. :) Some are rescues and some are babies I bought. Some are older breeders that I have. No matter they are all very much into being held when THEY want. :)
