my breeder told me that females are usually nicer than males by a 6:4 ratio... i thought females were more expensive cuz they could be bred, but she said that IS a factor, but its not the main reason. she ssaid they're more expensive cuz they're nicer and easier to handle... :banghead:

From my opinion of having both that is not the case. There is also a poll on this topic in "hedgie debate" so you can see where everyone else stands! :)

i think that they are equal. it really depends on the hedgehogs personality. my girl can be very grunpy, while my friend has a very sweet little male, who barely huffs at all. you'd have to go and see the hedgehog that you want, and see how friendly it is.

My first 2 hedgieswere both males. Ollie was super friendly and Harley was a terror. Now I have a male and female, and Dillon is alot friendlier then Kallie.
You just never know what kind of personality you will end up with. There are no guarentees.

Females usually cost more because hedgehogs seem to be having more males than females in their litters. I have males and females and they all are equally friendly.
