my new hog is a baby and he sleeps 24/7... even when i put food, he wakes up and smells it, but he just goes back to sleep again without even touching it... im really worried... my previous hog wouldnt sleep as much as him...
also, just a handling questoin... how am i supposed to pick him up?
if i touch his quills, he raises them. am i supposed to just slip my hands under his belly? wouldnt he ball up so i cant hold him? im really still scared to hold him :(

Put your hand under his belly, approaching from the rear, not the head and bring him to your chest. Then, holding him against your chest, cover his butt with the other hand and be very still and softly talk to him.
I was just wondering, how many hedgies do you have? I though that you had just gotten two recently. What happened to your "previous" hedgie? Just wondering.

How old is your hog? Babies like to sleep a lot! Is he warm enough?

if my girl won't let me pick her up, i usually use a blankie, and then once she is in my hand, she is fine!! now she lets me slip my hand underher and pice her up!

My Hedgie (Cleo) sleeps a lot too. (until about 12 or 2 am and then is up till morning. But when I wake her up @ night she won't even play most of the time, she'll just fall back asleep...lol She's about 5 months old, is she just a lazy hedgie?

P.S. Tony is the complete opposite, he's up all the time.

I wouldn't say lazy. Just on her own timetable. Odo and Marco are up and about at different times. Marco sleeps much more than Odo does. He is about 4 months old and Odo is 13 months.
