Looking for hedgehog breeders in the Virginia area.

Hello, I'm from Chesepeake, Virginia and am looking for a breeder located within a reasonable distance. I'm aware of www.virginiahedgehogs.com, which is located right next to me in Newport News, but the website left me kind of confused. I'm interested in a young, freshly weened baby girl or boy (preferably a girl). I've had 6 years experiance with hedgehogs, and just recently my beloved Hazel passed away.:( She left such a strong impression on me that I feel empty without a cute little hedgehog in my life. So if anyone breeds hedgehogs in the southern VA/ northern NC area or knows any one who does, Id appreciate it.

There is a breeder in Maryland that is currently trying to get her USDA license (recently moved here) , I have been trying to get a hedgie from Virginia Hedgehogs as well and she wont return my emails. The lady in Md. Doesnt have a website right now but I can get her email addy for you if you are interested... PM me if you are.

Hi! First, I'm so sorry about your Hazel! It sounds like you had a wonderful bond with her! I can understand how you feel--it's amazing how they work their way into our very souls!

I'm sorry that you were left confused by my website--I'd love to know what the problem was...I've only received good feedback, but if there's a problem, I would love to hear about it so I can make appropriate changes. Where in Chesapeake are you located? I would love for you to come for a visit and meet my herd!

I don't have any babies available right now. I only have 3 females at the moment that I'm breeding--two just had their litters leaving and the third I'm taking to MD next weekend to breed. Those babies won't be ready to go until late Feb/early March--that is, if all works out right.

Please give me a call any evening and we can discuss you getting one of them if you're interested. There aren't any other breeders that I know of in VA. Stasi is in MD, but she doesn't have any babies right now either--she just moved from Alaska. But, I'm sure amongst the mid-to northeastern breeders we can come up with a wonderful baby girl for you--it will just take a while if you're willing to wait. :-)
