I went to my local animal feed shop to inquire anout CSFTCLS and he said that he didn't carry it anymore. The store specifically sells animal food/feeds/supplies. He said that he works with a Holistic Vet (I belive he has a farm) and she said she wasn't overly impressed with CSFTCLS. Although it is not a bad food, she just thought that there were better holistic foods out there. She also thought that some of the sodium contents were too high, especially the canine formula.(I'm not slamming CSFTCLS.. just passing on info, I know a lot of Hedgie owners love it)

So I asked what he reccomended for a very high quality/low fat holistic feline food. He reccomended:

I fed it to homer, who never eats from my hand or while we are up and he gobbled it up. I also liked the smell of the food. Instead of smelling like animal, it smelled like chicken broth, blueberry and cranberry.

Then I ate a peice of Eucanuba and a Peice of the Wellness. No wonder Homer didn't like the Eucanuba. :Pukey: Gross. But the Wellness brand actually tasted like chicken and cranberry. :slurp:

While I agree there are other foods that are just as good as CSFCLSL out on the market, the ingredients are very good quality and the fat percentage (~10%) is around the level that Dr. Dressen suggests for hogs. I'll have to look at the sodium level a little more closely on my next bag.

Isn't Wellness wonderful? It's in my mix and it is always eaten. Try and get a sample bag of the Salmon flavor. Moose suggested this to me, and it is a big hit for a treat in my house :)

I'll have to try that Salmon CSFTCLS! I'm looking for something to keep him from getting bored with just one flavor. :slurp: I haven't heard of Wellness brand before last night.

I should have clarified... Wellness has a salmon flavor. I really like Wellness products for both cats and dogs as well. Old Mother Hubbard is the parent company

So I tried Wellness Lite, and Bosco turned his already upturned nose up even further at it! LOL I kept it in his mix, but it doesnt seem like he is eating much of it. I would like to try the Salmon flavor since Ive heard such good things about it on here....any idea where Id be able to get a sample bag of it? Or, would someone be willing to send me a small amount- say a cup and a half or so? Id be willing to send some money via paypal to cover shipping etc. I dont want to purchase another entire bag of something that he isnt going to eat. Hedgehogs these days....

I have a Petsmart soon to open close by, then I hope to get some of this Wellness, RCS and the other stuff that I keep reading about.

I went to our local humane society to pick up a bag of CSFCLS but of course they ended up having only adult regular formula and no lite. :( They normally don't stock lite version since it never sells. I'll have to go to another store to get one but I was so bummed out! Wellness is a great favorite for both my hedgie and puppy. :) Although I wish they had smaller kibbles for dogs since mine is a small shih tzu.
