I'm interested in purchasing my first chinchilla and have been doing some online research about them before making a final decision. I've found a cage online that I like the looks of, but I'd like some advice from chin owners as whether or not you think it would be a good choice. I'd hate to buy something that wouldn't be safe for my little one.

I'm looking at this one http://www.petcarecentral.com/suppetmulfer.html

It says it is appropriate for ferrets or chins.

It has plastic shelves, which isn't good for chins to chew on...I know other people on the site recommend Martin's Cages and Quality Cages, that might be worth looking into.

i think there was just a thread about this cage, i'll find it for you.

two word answer: bad choice.

in short, the plastic is bad because chins chew on things. and for the price, there are a lot of other options. read through a few threads on cages for more ideas. (any one where someone is like 'is this cage okay' or 'what cage should i get' will have LOTS of good suggestions.)

i'll find the other thread now.

Thanks so much for the advice. Glad I asked before I made a purchase.
