My hedgie has been chewing on a small bird toy that I put in his cage. It has about 5 pieces of colored wood and a bell. Is this normal?
Should I take it away? He likes to sleep with it also. Im always finding it under him when I go and pick him up.

How old is he? I would be worried about any paint chips coming off and that's about it. IMO, it sounds like it's his favorite toy and even though he is chewing on it, dosen't mean he is swallowing any of it. JMO

If it is a toy for birds it is probably non toxic. :)

I have a bird, Pierre. He has a toy that sounds exactly like what your hedgie has. From my experience, this toy doesnt have paint chips per say, its more like the wood has been dyed, not painted. And yes, I would imagine it is non-toxic considering it was made for a pet to chew on.
