Does anyone else's hedgie go through "off" phases? My Razzle is usually pretty friendly and active most of the time, but sometimes for no apparent reason, he is huffier than usual and tries to keep hidden under a blanket as much as possible. On top of that, he won't be as active that night and I start wonderig what is wrong. Temperature is the same, he is eating, peeing, pooping the same and there is nothing physically wrong....he just seems a bit "off". But then, a day or two later, he's back to his "old self", running like the wind on his wheel and not as huffy and out playing and exploring. Anyone else notice this with their quillbaby?

Yeah, Bosco will have off days too. They usually freak me out because I think something is wrong with him, but then the next night his wheel is extra dirty, and food is from one end of the cage to the other. Its almost like he is saying "Ha ha mom, fooled ya! Im alright, really!" Hedgies these days! Honestly.

Maybe they are just having fun at our expense! I'm a worry-wart as it is, so this really puts me in a tizzy. I start getting the vet's phone number ready to call, trying to decide what exactly I"m going to tell the vet ("My hedgehog is just not himself lately...").

Sometimes when Bosco is waiting for me to go to bed (so that he can party!) he lays all sprawled out, head inside the pvc pipe, and little legs straight out behind him. One time I walked into my room to find him like this and throught for sure he was dead! I poke he gently and got a hiss as a reply, and a nasty hedgie look. I could tell he was thinking " You should have seen the look on your face when you thought I was dead! Boy that was funny mom!"

All my babies have also had their off days. Thinks it's just like people! :)

Mine all have off days also. Some more than others. Then some of the grumps have on days where they are actually friendly.

Alina has "off" days, too, and I wonder if she's okay, etc. Just recently she's had a day or two where she was actually...almost cuddly. Very unnerving, really. ("Cuddly" just isn't her type. The world is her triathalon!)
