Hello Everyone!
I just registered and am looking forward to getting to know other chinchilla lovers and learning more about these wonderful little creatures. I am a new chinchilla owner. I have had my chin for about 3 months now. His name is Toby, he's a standard, and I think he's about 6-9 months old (they couldn't tell me how old he was when I bought him, but he was very small at the time). When I found him during a long day of searching for the right chin for me, I instantly fell in love with him. He has a very sweet, calm personality, and is very clever and funny. He has me completely wrapped around his little paw, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Thank you, Linda! You're right, no one warned me how addictive these little guys are. He's so adorable and such a delight! I am definitly tempted to get more. For now, though, I think I'm safe from being over-run, as I live in an apartment with limited space. I can't fit another cage in, and I don't think Toby's cage is quite big enough to also accomodate a buddy (it's 2'7" x 1'2" x 2'5"). Of course, I'll probably be moving to a bigger place in about two years, so...

Thank you for welcoming me, Mary-Marie and RosiesMama! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, but I was out of town for a while and when I got back, I had to prep for my classes (I'm co-teaching two undergrad classes [my first time teaching - yikes!] and I have grad classes to take myself). It's been a little crazy. I'm back to the forum now, though, and wanted to say "hi" to you both since you were so kind to say "hi" to a newbie like myself! :) Thanks!
Also, rosiesmama, it's so cool to find a fellow new chin lover in St. Louis! I live in Hazelwood (North County, northwestern side of Lambert Airport).
