Since Im new to hedgies, im taking everyones advice to heart.. I am changing Huberts food to something better.. I bought a bag of royal canin.. the regular, not the slim.. the feed store didnt have it.. and im mixing it with his regular food..
Well, all he does is kick out the old food and eats only the Royal Canin..Can I just quit mixing it and throw the old stuff away (well, feed it to my chickens anyway..)?? Ive noticed the last few days that he was kicking most of it out anyway..
Im trying to find some Chicken soup cat food, but the only place ive seen it has it in big bags..Way to much for one hedgie without it going stale..and my cat refuses to eat anything except 9 lives.. so cant give it to him.. LOL
Also, will his poo's get smelling normal when his body adjusts to the diet change? Or is it always gonna stink??
Alicia..

Hedgie poop has an odour but if he is young it will also improve with age also. Babies tend to stink more. :)

I would bet that your cat will like the CSFTCLS. I got a big bag of the reg. instead of the lite one time, and my hedgies wouldn't eat it so I gave a little to my cat. He uses it for treats now. He will dig through his food that he has been on for five years and search out the CSFTCLS. My hedgies when they are out on freedom time, I will put a small bowl of the CSFTCLS lite and a small bowl of water out for them and they have to run the cat away from the food! It's so funny to watch. Odo will lower her head and charge my cat to run him away from her food! Then Punk, my cat, will sneak around and get back to the food when Odo isn't looking.

LOL...MY cats seemed to like Thistle when she was still with us, so they would try to get to her food when ever she was out too, and now since I'm hedgie sitting my friends Chii, they try to eat her food too, I give them some as treats sometimes :) so I guess they think when i put it on the floor for the hedgie its treats for them, Silly Kitties and they are so not scared of them , they just walk right up and stif them like crazy untill their noses get poked anyways , thewn they certainly back off for a few min anyways

Ah hedgie poo, its like fine wine, as the wine ages, it gets better as your hedgie gets older the poo smell gets better.

Well, once Huberts body adjusted to the change in diet, his poo's started smelling better. Not great, but not as bad.. He wont even touch the other food in there.. just pushes it out looking for the Royal Canin..

I don't know what the "other" food is, but if he is not eating it, I dont' see where it would hurt to quit giving it to him. I got some of the RC38Slim tonight, I am going to mix it with the CSFTCLS that is their normal diet.
