If I wanted to give my hedgehog Vitamin E supplement what would the proper amount be to give her, and in what form? I imagine powdered would be best.
I was reading somewhere that Vitamin helps with the leg paralysis that Sugar Gliders can get. I figured if it works for Sugar Glider's maybe it would help prevent WHS.

I also would like to know if it is feasable that vit. E, or any vit. for that matter would help prevent WHS or if this is a disease that cannot be prevented.
This is a most horrible disease, and the film clip I saw that showed a hedgie with this illness trying to walk broke my heart. If there is anything I can do that may help my babies chances of escaping this brutal disease, I want to know.

I have been giving one drop of Vitamin E oil on my boys food at night for about a month. I did it to help with dry skin, but I have also been using Flaxseed meal for the skin problem. If it helps prevent WHS I will most certainly continue to use it, as both of my boys are petstore hedgies and I have no history on them.

I went to the grocery store today and they only had Vitamin E supplements in soft gell cap form. I was hoping for a powder of some sort.

I don't want to be pessimistic but I don't think WHS can be prevented just by taking Vitamin E...
I was told this week that the father of my little one possibly ("chances" are big) died of WHS. And I read a lot of stuff on that and I didn't find anything about a link between WHS and vitamin E...
WHS is "a degenerative, progressive disease of the central nervous system". And this disease, unfortunatelly, seems to be genetic. It means that it is in their genes and we cannot do anything to change that. It is already there if it is...
Vitamin E (and the other types of vitamins), I think, can help to prevent some diseases, like cancer for exemple. But not WHS. :|
Believe me, I will give vitamin E supplements right away if someone can find the source of this information and it is scientificly proven to be true.
