When i first got Prick he ran on his wheel like crazy for the first few days. Then he stopped using it. I noticed him limping so i took him to the vet and the vet said he wasnt broken. So i took the wheel out of his cage until i saw that he was using all 4 legs whn walking. I placed it back in the cage 4 days ago and he has not used it all (unless i litter box trained him well enough for him not to go while running ;) ) Which i doubt. Anyhow, should i be to worried about it? Should i find a new way to make sure he is getting all the exercise that he needs. If this is the case does anyone have an idea what i should do to get the exercise?
Thanks

I noticed my hedgehog had stopped using her wheel so I took it out of her cage and offered it to her during play time. She didn't use it for approx. 2 weeks. She started using it again during play time so I put it back in her cage. I guess sometimes hedgehogs decide they don't want to wheel for a while.
If you aren't completely sure wether your hedgie is using the wheel you could put a piece of paper on the top of the wheel. If it's still there in the morning you'll know it's not been used. If it's gone the wheel is probably being used.
One way to encourage him to wheel is to put some chicken baby food on the wheel halfway up it.
