Kiwi has a wheel in her cage. But for whatever reason, she didn't use it anymore when it is there.
So at night, she is wake up but stay in her fleece (or under the little hat that Teasel Mom made).

I want her to be healthy and more fit (she is a "little" fat / just like mommy).
So few weeks ago, I made a big park with large coroplast band. It does a big park of 6 feet X 12 feet and I often go in there to play with her ! :)

So 4-6 times a week, I put Kiwi in the park with her wheel, water, food and a little ball. Very often, she is shy for the 4-5 first minutes and doesn't really move.
After that, she play a lot in her wheel- like maniac. She go pretty fast. 2 minutes later, she walks a little bit in the park and go back in the wheel.
She does that all the time she is in the park.
I let her there for approx. 30-45 minutes a day. Always under my supervision.

My question is this : while she is in the park, is she playing or panicking because she just want to get out of there ?
Sometimes, I can hear her chirps but not always ...

Is she happy to be there ?

Sounds to me like she is in hog heaven! :)

What you describe sounds like my hedgies usual nightly routine (in her cage.) When she wants out, I can usually tell because she starts running along the outside wall of her cage, sniffing like crazy! I think Kiwi is having a grand time. :)

Yeah, If she wanted out she would be at the sides of the enclosure trying to climb out.

I do the same thing with my boys. Each one of the alternates nights, one night on mommies lap and the next night in their "playground." I have a little wire cage and I put some boxes that I have cut holes into, as well as their food dish and a towel to catch accidents. If they are feeling frisky they will play in the boxes, Tico loves the boxes. Nemo sometimes just goes to sleep in the boxes. But I still think its good for them to be out of their cage for an hour or so (last night it was two).

I let Razzle play in his playpen every night and it is huge (it's actualy two playpens hooked together), yet he still runs along the sides looking to get out :-(

Odo and Marco have the run of the living room. I have enlarged their "pen" three times until it covers the entire living room and both of them will still run the lengh of the fence looking for escape routes. I think it is just their nature. In the wild, a hedgie will establish a route around their territory and check it every night. I know that Odo and Marco will run this route before playing or doing anything else. I leave a mealie in a small bowl in different places each night and they always run the fence and find the bowls. Well, Odo does, Marco dosen't care for mealies. I got some wax worms tonight and will see what he thinks about them tomorrow night. They are still a little shook up over the vet visit to do it tonight.

Yes, it makes sense !
Guess I am just a over-worried-for-too-many-things "mommy" :)

Thanks everybody ! :)

If fact, Kiwi seems to become more and more confident with me. She almost never huff.
Lately, she started to do a very cute thing when I put her on my computer desk while I am on this forum.
When she is sleepy, she put herself all flatten out, chin on the "ground".
It is just like dogs do sometimes.
And she sleeps like that, just in front of me, on my desk computer !
It is so cute !!!!

She seems to say "caress me please !" :) . And guess what I do ?
