Sushi for good fortune

I don't know if it is true, but I read somewhere that japanese people have a nice belief.
If you eat fish (or is it raw fish) as the first food you eat on the beggining of a new year, it will attract chance and good fortune on you.

I do that since 2000 and it always work well for me !
So tonight, I am eating sushi (at 7h00 pm) and I will keep a tuna nigiri I will eat at midnight, just after the countdown of the beggining of the new year ! :)

That is a nice tradition Julie :) Although I think youre using it as an excuse to eat more sushi! LOL

Man, if someone told me this before the New Year, I could have used it as an excuse to eat sushi! (I'm pregnant, and I'm 'not allowed' to eat sushi... though, it's my FAV food.) I'm still convinced that pregnant Japanese women eat sushi, and their babies turn out okay!! :P
