My hedgie is a very picky eater. He'll only eat chicken and occasionally mealworms. He absolutely loves chicken, but he is way more hesitant to eat it if it's cold or at room temperature. Sometimes he wont eat it at all. If I warm it up a bit he goes crazy over it! I just found it kind of odd lol. Anyone else notice this?

I think most animals like foods that are slightly warmed. It brings out the flavour and the smell. :)

Hhhmmm maybe that is where I am going wrong. I might have to try warming some treats up a little bit.

Jake eats almost anything that doesn't move away fast enough. However, he likes his kibble better if I heat it. It is a mix of Buffalo Blue cat food and hedgehog food. He'd ignore his kibble in favor of baby food and egg and chicken and I was afraid that he wasn't getting enough nutrition. That is when I started heating it up. I drip a little watery chicken broth on it. Enough moisture to make it damp, but not so much so it is still crunchy. A very delicate recipe.

My roommate rolls her eyes at me. She says I cook more for my pets than I do for humans. My dog gets her food heated too. It is because she is changing to a weight loss food that she doesn't care for. NOT because I am a crazy pet person! :D
