It doesn't really hurt me, but I guess I'm just used to scooping them up whether they are balled up or not. I would say it startles you more than it hurts

I've been quilled a time or two. Frodo got me good just a few minutes ago. Felt like a little needle.

Some do, some don't. Some of them seem to have sharper quills than others. I also find the babies have really sharp quills but luckily they don't have as much power or weight behind their pop. :)

I don't mind the quills to much, mind you my little marigold hardly ever raises a quill...but Thistle because she was dieing and in pain was always huffing and hissing, and I just held her and dealt with the prickly little quills...so i guess I sorta got used to being quilled, she was always in a ball for the last few days and I just had to bare with it ....I sure do miss her though :( ..I'm glad I have my little precious Marigold to keep me company now :)

It depends. When I'm holding her and she's curled up, it doesn't bother me so much, but if I'm trying to get her out of her cage and she starts to ball it hurts TERRIBLY. I think it's because instead of just holding her I'm trying to grab her, and the pressure of her quills on my hand is *YOWCH!*
