View Full Version : My Poor little Gambit
Gambit

Gambit got loose... I went to catch him. We always used a bin to catch them when they got out. Maybe like 150 times i've caught him by using that method. Well, today he was going so fast, I threw the bin over him. He was going full tilt and hit his head on the side of the container. He fractured his spine, and skull. :banghead: Why, oh WHY, did this time have to be different? I just want to wake up from this nightmare!

In loving memory of Gambit, age 4 (In May 2005)
"I never got to know you as well as the other people know their chins, but I always loved you with all my heart."
Rogue and Storm will miss you. I know you are looking down at us from the clouds.

I am sorry to hear about Gimbit. May he rest in peace!
I will restrain myself from commenting on the ways he died. I hope you have learned something from it.

I'm very sorry that he died. It's always frustrating to have something you've always done and been okay with suddenly not be okay. It's like speeding though.....it's okay until you get a ticket or get into an accident. Please use caution in the future when catching your pets. Best wishes for your furkid, may he rest in peace. My sympathies are with you.

I'm also very sorry that he passed away! :( Maybe in the future try throwing a towel or blanket over them instead of a bin. Again, I am very sorry for your loss.

I've tried the whole "towel/sheet thing" did work, they all move to fast and the garage is cramped with obstacles... so were going to get a butterfly net, as directed by the vet. Today was hard, its hard to believe my little baby boy is gone. I feel so dead inside, and depressed. I would start to cry in school for no reason. I feel horrible, I was getting so frustrated with him and I thought some stuff I didn't mean. I said to myself, I don't care, I just want him, alive or dead. well, now I have him.... dead. I wish i never thought of it. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Gambit- I did the same thing in school, started crying (but I didn't let anyone know) when Squeek died. I thought that I had killed her, that I didn't hand feed her often enough, or keep her warm. But my biggest regret was that when she had a seizure, I never took her to the vet. She had them before, and recovered, and it was November, so pretty chilly out and I didn't want her to get even more sick She died at 5 days old.
You didn't know this was going to happen- things happen, we do something and everything is fine. But there is that one time that things don't go the way we plan. You loved him and I am very sorry for your loss!

I'm sorry the poor chin had to pass that way.
Hopefully you learned a lesson from this, and another chin won't die due to ignorance. I'd like to say i'm sorry, but this could have so easily been avoided if you had used something different. Perhaps putting them in a chin safe room would be better? That way you don't have to throw something over them if they get out, and can put a dustbath or something out for them to go into.
