Ok. I just got the girl home and my cat came up into my lap. The hedgie didnt puff up, infact she didnt even seem to notice him. BUT.. she started purring. Do hedgies purr? It was like a purring sound. What is this?

Yes hedgies purr, and it is a GOOD sound! Hedgies purr like cats, they do it when they're content or when exploring. Sounds like your little buddy is comfortable in her home. :)

I LOVE when Doris purrs. At first I wasn't sure what it was either. Doris makes more of a soft, slower clicking noise, but it is only when she is happy.

thanx guys. I was wondering since she did it at the same time as puffing her head up at the cat

That's a growl, not a purr!

Marco will growl really loud, like a small dog. But let him out, and he is a timid little fellow. Feels big and brave when in his house.
Odo will purr when wanting a mealie. Which is all the time.

Popples makes a cherping(sp) sound like a bird, some time when he is eating.

I just love my little Hedgie.

He snuggled up to me for two hours while watching a movie last night. Even while cuddling he doesn't want to be disturbed.

My question is this..... Do all hedgies Purr? And if so is there a way to make hedgies feel more relaxed and content?

Mine has a wheel, I give him great love, some toys (he loves an empty toilet paper roll than anything else) and I give him little treats every now and then.

Thanks

Rob

I haven't heard my Poodge purr in the few years I've had her. She chirps, sniffles and hisses (I call that "piff-ing"--she piffs a lot).
She gets along great with my older cat, Rue. I used to put Poodge into a ferret ball (she loved it). After one panic attack of seeing Rue chase the ball, I noticed the ball chased Rue back. They took turns, keeping themselves both entertained. It was fun to watch.
