Jake stays in my bedroom. My small bedroom. I got a great space heater for Christmas with a thermostat so the room always stays 75 degrees. Jake is now lodging in the bottom of my closet, so there are no drafts. The heater is on the floor, so the closet floor stays warm.

My question is, do you think I still need a heating pad?

Jake has stopped sleeping under his blanket on the heating pad and is now sleeping under a tissue box in another part of the enclosure. The pad is on the lowest setting and under a towel. Now that the temp in the room is better regulated, do you think he is too hot on the pad? Or should I leave it in just in case?

If the room temperature is adequate and consistent there really isn't a need for the heating pad. I personally prefer not to use a pad and to keep the room warm like you are doing and have had no problems for many years now.

It is possible that he isn't sleeping under his blanket because the pad is making it feel too warm.

I too have never used a heating pad or any other heating device in or on their cage. I have used a small electric heater in their room for a couple of years now, and it has worked great. :)
