Argh!

ok, this is somthing I already know the answer to, but other breeders will relate to my frustrations I"m sure.
I bred Hadi on the 15-17 now she doesn't look like she's gained ANY weight, so I figured she didn't give in to my scooter's charm, but whenI came home last night she had made a nest. Noel, Annie and Pootie all gained so much weight that by now I KNEW they were pregnant. what are the chances there's only like a baby or 2 in there and she's just not showing???

Here is my opinion..... She still might be pregnant. Some hogs gain very little weight, if anything at all. You have to remember that each hog will carry differently. Some of my girls get absolutely huge when they are carrying 1-2 babies; others gain hardly anything at all and have a decent sized litter (3-4). You never know. Well, be patient. I am sure you will get you answer soon. Best of luck!

Ahhh, that has to be frustrating! The best advice I have is just assume she is preggers and just be patient. I know, that's asking a lot, but you've got to try. Good luck and I'm hoping for the best! :)

well I"m actually pretty convinced she's not pregnant at all. I had her out last night and well really took a good look at her, she's not filled out at all, she generally a thin hedgie and well she's still a thin hedgie.

Sarah it is possible she could be pregnant. I have read plenty of stories from breeders who have had hedgehogs gain no weight, and I believe I have even heard of one losing weight during pregnancy. Yet they still had healthy babies. This is why breeders tend to recommend continuing to wait out the time even if it seems to be a waste of time.

oh I'm still waiting and have her all ready. lol I"m just not holding my breath. oh it would be so wonderful if she had a litter, she's the albino girl I've wanted forever, I'd just die if I went down there some morning to see little albino butts

I was almost positive that Carabella was not pregnant. She had even lost weight during when she was pregnant. About 3 or so days before she gave birth, she started to gain about 100 grams or so and ended up having 4 babies. I would positively wait it out :)
