Hi! I'm Erin. I'm a graduate student in Dayton, OH. It has been raining for days on end here. I have a serious weakness for rodents. If I pick one up, I take it home. I grew up with dwarf hamsters (inbred to perfection!). In August 2004, a tiny gray chin captured my heart at a local pet shop. Although I knew absolutely nothing about chinchillas, the little bundle of joy didn't leave my arms until we were home. In the following weeks, I gave myself a crash course on chins while Ollie charmed everyone she met.
Fast forward to November. Ollie and I had become fast friends, but I was worried that she might crave some chin companionship. Enter Aspen -- the first mosaic chin I had ever seen. I had to hold her. After gaining approval from both Ollie and the boyfriend, I brought Aspen home.
After a rough first night (boyfriend decided on the smoosh method but used vinegar), Ollie and Aspen are now best buddies. Unfortunately Aspen came with a nasty ear infection. After a month of antibiotics, she was finally given a clean bill of health. Now we're just waiting for the head tilt to go away.
