ok i made these real cozy sleeping bags for my pigs but my girl ...i dont think she ever leaves it and i am worried. the last view days it doesn't look like she has really gone batroom ..when usually it is something that is hard to miss with her. my apartment is quite cold so i have a space heater in their room it is 80 in there..is that too hot? well the boy is fien he is out all the time but every time i check on them she is in her baggie.the last few days i had her and her sleep bag out in my bed for her to sleep so i could turn down the heater since my hydro is through the roof anyway i wondered if maybe that was throwing off her sleep???
whats wrong with my baby??? i heard her crunching her food when iput her in last night but doesnt look like much is gone!!!
help please!

Are you using the same food from where you bought it? Changes in diet can do that. Atleast it's eating, just let it run in a wheel, that will get him pooping in no time.

How is the lighting in the room. They need 12 hours of light per day or that can also put them into semi hibernation. Just turn a regular light on near the cage for 12 hours a day.
A drop in temperature can affect them. 80F is rather high. I aim for 75-76 all the time. If you had it at 80 and dropped it to 75 that is a 5 degree drop and could affect her even though 75 is an ok temp.
Is her tummy cool? I would suggest using a heating pad on low under her bed just to see if that helps. Make sure she has an alternate sleeping place away from the heat.
Usually if they are too hot they will lay splatted out and often find a cooler area to sleep, like on the bare plastic of the cage.
The best way to tell how much she is eating is to count the kibble. She might be eating more or less than you think.
Keep us posted. :)

I noticed similar behavior with my girl. She definitely sleeps longer and is 'less active' with a hedgie bag in her cage. By less active I mean she gets up later and goes to sleep earlier. She still actively tubes around and wheels. Sometimes when she doesn't get up even at 9pm we'll gently wake her up to start her 'day' and take the hedgie bag out for few hours; so she can't go back to snooze in the hedgie bag after eating. I'm sure it's a comfort thing. I know I definitely like to snuggle under the covers as long as I can. :) As long as your hedgie is warm and eating well I wouldn't worry too much. I would suggest maybe taking the hedgie bag out for couple of days and see if that makes any difference. Sometimes we take our girl's bag out whenever we rearrange her environment and she has no problems. She's got lots of options: pigloo, big cereal box, pvc pipe, and bunch of vellux scraps. Although we often find her sleeping in the middle of the cage with a TP tube on her head. :)

well she is definatly warm enough i check her sparadically cause i am worried and she never seems too warm because it is a space heater i think it is only 80 right out front of the heater and not likely as high inside. the problem is tat if i drop the heater down just a little it seems that the rooms temp would change drastically so i am too scared to do it. i have heard her eat it just doesn't seem like she is washrooming!! maybe i am just paroniod but i know for sure she didnt go last night...usually she loves her wheel cvould she just be obsessed with the bag?
