It is time to purchase kibble for Jake. The supply he came with is almost out. Do I have to buy "hedgehog food" or is it okay to have a couple varieties of cat food?

He gets Buffalo Blue, Chicken Soup, and Solid Gold cat foods. He also had Brown's ZooVital from his previous home. If he does need hedgie food, what kind do you recommend? I have not been able to find much agreement about this subject.

Lay those opinions on me.

Personally I like a mix of Spikes Delight, Royal Canin Slim, Some minx food, which is high in oil so it keeps there skin nice and soft, some Wellness which they pick at. I have been told that browns is not good since it is mostly corn and vegie based not meat based. Thats just my opinion, but what ever the case make sure you slowly transition your hedgie over or he may stop eating, or get nasty green poo.

You are right. Brown's is not that great. His old mom was feeding him that and Purina. I chucked the Purina in favor of the Buffalo Blue, but kept the Brown's to keep him from being too freaked out by the diet change.

If Jake ever stops eating I think the world will stop revolving. The seas will turn to blood and locusts will take over the Earth. Green poos are the payment I get for trying to give him a balanced diet. It is kind of a nice shade, though. I joked with my roommate that I want to bring a turd into Home Depot and see if they will color match it so I can get that color paint for the bathroom.

I can just see the housewarming party after that when someone asks you what your inspiration was for the lovely paint color in that bathroom.... ;)

How perfectly delightful you must be at partys! You never fail to make me laugh. Thanks, I really needed a laugh today!

Sorry, didn't answer the question, did I?
I feed my herd (three is a herd right?) CSFTCLS Lite with a little bit of kitten formula mixed in. I also add equal parts RC-Slim 38 with a dash of Wellness lite and Wellness Salmon flavor. I tried to keep up with the requirements of fat and protien and stuff like that but was getting a headache from all of the different views on this. I settled on the above mixture and my crew is doing fine, eating well and pooping correctly. This is just the mix I use. My vet approves and that's good enough for me!

lol, lovin' the bathroom idea! ;) Personally, I'd chuck out the hedgie food, and stick with the diet you have right now...unless of course seas turn to blood and locusts take over. ;)

Billy, you post reminded me of a cooking show. "Dash of this, and some of this for flavor and BAM!" Haha. I joke with my mom that Pippin eats better than I do...I watch his weight and food intake verrrrrry carfully and flip out if he's not eating his regular amount. I'm quite the overprotective mommy.

Actually if you took it into home depot, they would color match it, as long as you didn't tell them what it was, and actually if you got the right person in the Paint Dept. then they still might.
