well, since sonics passing, we have been busy. we found a breeder(no more pet store hedgies for us...)and we are meeting with her on tuesday. she says there will be a litter soon, and that we are second on the list, so all is good. we are goin there to meet the parents. :D we also have found a hedgie vet and we have introduced ourselfs and our intentions.

on the other side of the cage, our famale guinnea pig monkey got fat. we were looking at her, and realized we bought a pregnant pig... :dizzy:

anyway, the vet says she is fine and all is goin well. i already have 2 males(hamlet and smore) which never met in the same cage as monkey, so i know they are innocent. :itslove: ;)

so my son is happy, all is going well, and i hope all is well with all of you.
i will keep you posted and maybe take and post some pics of the parents of our soon to be hedgie.

be safe.

Thats great news!
Not all petstore hedgies have problems though. Odo came from a pet store and has never had a health problem and has an excellant temperment. This pet store is a small mom and pop outfit which has dealt with the same breeder for the past 10 yrs. They deal only with this one breeder.

I'm sorry to hear about Sonic, but I'm glad to hear that you are getting a baby hedgie. Congrats to the new parents. And, I do agree that not all petstore hedgies have problems. My Ms. Tiggy-Winkle and Holiday came from a petstore in my hometown, and they lived a long life. Though, Holiday was born without one eye, but she was still loved the little rascal.

i posted that i went to see some petstore hedgies, but one looked like it had some serious itchin probs and the other was missing a bumch of quills.... i would rather try my luck with the breeder. sonic was a petstore hedgie and he was awesome. he was just sick when i bought him.:(

:applause: well, monkey had her piglets!!! :D :bday:

3 healthy baby piggys.
1 looks like a koala with ruby eyes
the other is almost all black with a slight tuft of brown over its head
and the last one is all medium brown, with darker brown spots. :blob4: :blob3:

they are truly adorable. mommie monkey is doing wonderfully. shes eating and the lil family is chirping away. my wife loves the koala one, so we named that one Nugget. its a keeper. the other 2 we havnt named yet, but i think the black one with the lil brown spot looks like an Elvis. my son wants to name it Spot. :| but as of now, they are all happy and healthy. i will take pics tomorrow when they are a bit more used to the outside world. right now they are huddled with mommy.

Congratulations Monkey! :applause:

When I first read this I thought that was a very strange colour description for baby hoglets and also wondered when you had gotten the pregnant hedgie.
I guess I was having a blonde moment.
