Hey I need help. I am researching the possibility of getting a hedgie and have been looking at what food is available locally and I have a problem finding the right food. I have a list of cat food that is deemed good by Pogstar Hedghog, including Royal canin slim 37 or 38. well petco.com has royal canin slim but not royal canin slim 37 or 38, is this the same product? Where does everyone purchase thier food? What I need is the exact name of the food and where you purchase it. PLEASE...

I have purchased Royal Canin Slim 38 from Petco or Petsmart. If your local Petco carries Royal Canin brand but not a particular kind you want, you may want to speak to a manager about ordering Slim 38 for you. I use Wellness Lite, Wellness Salmon, and Wysong in my mix currently. You can go to Wellness website for a list of stores that carry the brand. You can also do that for Chicken Soup for Cat Lover's Soul (CSFCLS). I found Wysong at Wild Oats market as well as other natural foods/organic market. I've read Newman's Own pet foods are pretty good too, which can also be found in natural foods store. There are many online stores that carry good wholesome, organic foods. Good luck. :)

Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul (Lite) has a great website. You can't order it straight from them, but they do have a store locator that can tell you the closest place to you.
At the store where I found CSFTCL cat food I found a brand called Solid Gold Katz-N-Flocken. Silly name, but Jake really likes the food.
Bufflalo Blue is good and I bought it at PetSmart. Should be available at PetCo too.
Most likely, if you can find a store that sells Chicken Soup they will also carry other brands that fit the feeding criteria. Search this site for threads if you don't know what to look for in a cat food.
BTW - I found the best pet store in my area! They are independent and have a great selection and brilliant staff. They also carry small sample size bags so I didn't have to buy a huge cat food bag for a small hedgehog. Especially since I feed him 3 different kinds!

The foods available at my local canine commissary are:
Healthwise
California natural
Natural balance
Wellness
Natural balance
Solid gold
Chicken soup for the cat lover’s soul
Eagle pack
I’ve good things on here about csftcls but are any of the other foods good? Should any be avoided?
I have found the royal canin slim on petco but have not found royal canin slim 37 or 38 listed on petco, is this the same product just a different name?

The Wellness is top quality, but none of my will eat it readily. They will pick out the CSFTCLS and the RCslim38 first, then will eat a piece or two of the Wellness.

I'm not familiar with Healthwise, but the rest are good, high quality foods. Just try to find the light versions or the reduced calorie.
You might have to ask if they can get in the RC Slim 38. It comes in a blue bag. I think you can get either 4 or 8 pounds. If you have a Pet Supplies Plus, they are carrying the food now- at least my store is.

I am in Houston, Texas and this is what I have available:
PetsMart & Petco sell Royal Canin Slim 38 - PetsMart sells the 7.5ilb. bag for 16.99
Auburn Kennel (713-465-6425) sells Wellness Super5Mix in Salmon and Lite - 5 ilb. bag for 16.99
CSFTCLS - Does not have a Houston retailer, so I order it online at PetFoodDirect.com
PetFoodDirect.com also sells Wellness, Solid Gold, and Royal Canin

I don't have anything like a PetSmart yet but we are getting a PetCo soon. Right now I have to order all of the food from Petdirect.com..
I really like their service and such a great selection.

Healthwise, California Natural, and Innova are all made by Natura. (I work in an independent retailer that sells these foods.) They, along with Chicken Soup for the Soul are all ranked in the top 10 dog foods by Whole Dog Journal, and I would wager they are the same for cats. My hedgie comes home Tuesday, and I plan on feeding her Chicken Soup, since I already buy it for my dog and cats. :)
