Baby food question
Which types? Which brands? How often? How much?

Types
Powdered baby cereal-
-can be sprinkled over kibbles every second night to add fiber into their diet
Jarred baby food ideas-
-sweet potato
-chicken and gravey
-beef and gravey
-peas
-carrots
-bananna
-stawberry
-blueberry
-apple (sauce)
Pretty much anything goes. Ive also tried a couple of the combos like chicken and veggies, or pasta, chicken and veggies- neither of my boys liked them. But that isnt to say that yours wont.
Brands-
-any brand should be fine. Heinz, Gerber...whatever you have where you are.
How much-
-somewhere between 1/2-1 tsp
-mix up their diet so they are getting variety
-say one night they get a little spoon full of chicken and gravy baby food along with their normal kibbles, and the next night they get some fresh banana etc.

That's a great list!
To add to that, someone suggested getting a variety pack of baby food. That way, you have four different things for your hedgie to try. (Possibly hedgie will actually like one! )

Laura has a wonderful list! Just remember that you have to try the same foods several times before you can say you're hedgie doesn't like them. Sometimes things taste better to them on the fifth day as opposed to the first. That's what happened with sweetpeas in my herd!

Or sometimes things taste great on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but are spit back out at you on Tuesdays and Thursdays LOL I'll never understand that about my boys...loving it one day, hating it the next

None of my crew will eat baby food. Nor yogart, meat sticks, wet cat food or anything like that.
I read about everyone elses hedgie eating stuff like that and I must admit to just a touch of jealousy. :)

I agree with Ododad. My hedgies won't eat any of that stuff either, but they will eat fresh foods, like boiled chicken or turkey, veggies and fruit and even some cheeses.

I mix it up like PrettyHate. Every night Jake gets his kibble, a blob (1 tsp?) of baby food, and a "mystery food".
If the baby food is meat, the mystery ingredient is fresh fruit, veggie, or hard boiled egg.
If the baby food is fruit/veggie, the mystery ingredient is cooked chicken or toddler meat stick or hard boiled egg.
If Jake had his way, the entire bowl would be overflowing with hard boiled egg. :slurp:
I buy the cheapest baby food I can find. I figure, if it is okay for someone's human baby it is okay for my pointy baby.
Haven't tried baby cereal flakes. That is a good idea.
