So I took Macy out for playtime - I give her free range of about half my room. I never keep any of my stuff in her play area, except for today when I left my gym sneakers on "her" part of the floor. She seemed to find them very interesting so I left them there for her to investigate. I turned away to hang up my coat only to hear her hissing.
I look back and she managed to tip the shoe over and get herself stuck inside. I panick (she was so mad!) and quickly undo the laces, but it does no good. She's all puffed up with her quills stuck into the material of the shoe, with most of her front end stuck down in the toe. Nothing I could do only make her puff and pop more. After about 10 minutes (she would relax, start to unball only to find herself still stuck, and get mad all over again) she wiggled out.
*sigh* What an ordeal.
And the moral of the story? Don't leave hedgies unattended around shoes (not even to hang up your coat).
