I use to feed my little one ZooMed's canned worms and crickets, however, they would spoil so fast (even refrigerated) that it was not worth my money. So I started getting Flucker's Freeze Dried crickets and worms. My question is; are the live insects better than the freeze dried??? I have also heard about wax worms and silk worms on here, which type of worm is the most benefitial nutrition wise for hedgehogs?

I get my mealies from Flukers too. I always feed live mealies to my babies but that's just my preference. I think that the wax and silk worms are higher in fat content, seems like I read that somewhere before. I get my crickets live from a local pet store. I used to cut them in half before feeding to keep them from escaping :Pukey: now I place a towel in the tub, release some crickets and just let my hedgies go after them. One at a time of course!

SO do you think buying those crickets they sell for reptiles at the pet store would be ok for my hedgie?

That's perfectly okay. If you have a small hedghog, I would suggest getting the smaller crickets. If your hedgehog is larger than your hand I would get the bigger crickets.

What happens if your hedgehog wont go after the crickets.. How do you catch them again???? My Hubert wont eat mealies.they move to fast... he likes silkworms the best.. wax worms are ok too...
