Hello everyone! My name is Jessica and I'm from NJ. I have been reading your site for a long while now and finally my boyfriend and I decided to give a home to a cute little chinchilla of our own! Now before I ran out and bought one myself, I spent two days at about 12 different pet stores buying everything to make my new future love at home. Now while I was at a PetSmart looking at some dust bath, this very kind woman came up to me and started talking to me, saying she had a few chinchillas of her own and suggested some things for me. She also reccommended I visit this site! Unfortunately, I did not get her name, but if you are out there reading this, I THANK YOU TREMENDOUSLY!!!! She told me about this little pet store a bit north from where I was and that they had two very friendly chinchillas. Now, my boyfriend and I were really only in the market for one but when we got there, we didn't have the heart to seperate them so since I bought enough for all the world's chinchillas (I have a really big heart and wanted to make sure my little boy was spoiled) in food, toys, treats, hay, and everything else, so we decided to get them both.
Diego, my little boy, is a 6 month old standard gray who is absolutely amazing. He's already all over me and loves to climb up my shirt and touch his nose to mine. I was shocked as anything because I read so much about them being shy and scared and nervous but it is amazing! He's like a little puppy dog! I had to sleep out on the couch last night because any time I left the room, he'd start making this weird noise and would stop as soon as I came back in!
Now Poe is my boyfriend's baby. On the way to the petstore, I knew he was only set on getting one. Turns out he's a bigger softie than me! When the lady put Poe, an 8 month old White Mosiac in his arms, he turned to butter! Poe just laid there in his arms and kept snuggling up under his chin! However, Poe is our little pooper! He pooped all over my boyfriend at the pet store and all over him and the couch when we were all watching TV last night.
I'm sorry this is so long but I am just totally amazed at how amazing these little guys really are! I mean I did my research and went to so many places asking questions and buying different things but it couldn't have prepared me for this. They are like two little babys that I can't believe but absolutely LOVE to be held! I look forward to talking to you all about your chins and getting to know what being a chin mommy is all about!

Welcome Jessica! Chins are addicting! I thought I would be content with one chinnie and now I have 4 with two more on the way  Don't get me started about my hedgies :)
Take a minute to take a peek at the Chinchilla FAQ's to help answer some of your questions. Utilizing the search engine on the site may help answer a lot of questions that have been asked by others as well. If all else fails, post away. http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=55
Is Poe the second chinnie pictured? If he is, you were misinformed! He looks like an black velvet chinchilla, not a white mosiac. Is his belly all white?
This is a picture of an ebony:

This is a picture of a white mosiac:

I'm not an expert on colors by any means, I thought I had a white mosiac, but turns out he's pink white, but I know Poe is not a white mosiac.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
