Hi. I am having a problem with my second hedgie, Zeek. With my first one, Q, I was able to rub her belly, pet her back, and rub her forehead. I got Zeek from a breeder and there he was out-and-about with me. When I got him home, trouble began. It took several weeks, but I have it to a point where he likes me to pet his back. He used to hiss and jump. Now while I hold him, he sits calmly and flattens out, and even starts to roll over sometimes. But he hates it when I touch his face or underbelly. He even puts up a fight for me to see his face.

I think this may just be a personality thing. I was wondering if I should keep trying, like I did with his back, or if I should leave him alone. Any thoughts? Thanks.

some hedgies are just like that, Scooter won't show his face at all unless you catch him at a really good time. sounds to me you're doing good so far

I'd keep it up if I were you. Don't do it to the point that he is totally annoyed, but enough so he understands that he can trust you. He may never get to the comfort level of your other hedgie; it is just a personality thing. Good luck. :)

Thank you both. :)

It is nice to know he isn't the only one like that.
