Well I had a 10 gallon tank I was going to keep my hedgie in. A guy at work has offered me a 30 gallon aquarium. Is this a good home for a single hedgie? I figured this would give me ample room for his wheel, litter box, a few nice toys. What do you guys think? I was going to build him a home but the 30 gallon aquarium is FREE. So I cant really beat that.

the only thing with aquariums is that they don't ventulate very well, and are heavy and sometimes hard to clean. If you decide to go with the tank, make sure to clean it out everyday and take the hedgie out as much as possible.

What do you mean by clean it out? Dispose of the waste? Or change the lining/bedding?

Waste and or peed on bedding depending on what type you use.

if you are going to use a aquarium get the bigger one there is a little more ventallation but the other sytle of cages are better the ones with the plastic bottom and the wire on top like for ferrets and rabbits . either way the aquariums do have to be kept up with a whole lot more than other styles. but the aquariums do make good quarantine cages for new pets.
