It seems that one of Malachite's kidneys was ten times the size it should have been. They can't tell if it is from a massive infection or cancer. They have to do a biopsy to find out for sure. Hopefully a biopsy won't cost too much cause I'm reaching the limit of my spendable funds.
I'm going to be so sad if it turns out to be an infection that killed her because that should have been treatable. I have doubts that it could have been an infection because she have been on a antibiotic for over three weeks in december.
I have yet to actually talk to the vet. I'm going to call tomorrow to get the full story.

Well, I am very upset right now. I have called all day yesterday and all day today trying to get the vet on the phone so I could find out what happened to my pet to no avail. The vet won't come to the phone and his recptionists aren't any help. All I wanted was to know why my pet died and they don't seem to even care she died.
I'm in tears crying right now. Havinq a necropsy done wasn't supposed to make me more upset, it was supposed to give me closure.

UPDATE: Okay I finally got to talk to somebody. She had kidney cancer. Her kidney was so huge it was pressing on her other organs. I'm sad to know that perhaps I could have caught this earlier and treated it. But I am glad to know I didn't poison her. (if you've read my other posts I was afraid she had been overdosed with ivermectin). You know hedgehogs are just so good at hiding their ailments until it's almost too late to do anything. Unfortunately for my girl my vet was convinced it was WHS and I was convinced that it was the ivermec so nobody thought that it might be cancer.

Well, at least now you have some closure. I am truly very sorry about your little sweetie. I know how much you loved her and how very proud you were.

I'm glad you got the results. Even if it had turned out to be the ivermectin it WOULD NOT have been your fault. You did the best you could. :)
