My sweet little betta has died. I got him only 4 weeks ago. He didn't do very well in my 55 gal with my other fish. His fins were just too tempting for Gary Gourami so we moved him to a betta condo on the kitchen table. Bad Gary, bad fishy! But he was recoving and eating his food really well. He was very active and we enjoyed our little chats at the table. Hubby will be very disappointed when he gets home.

Yes, I am a fruitcake when it comes to my critters! Even the fishies!

Awww! I'm sorry to hear about Barry Betta... I have 3 bettas, Jeffery, who is about 4, Brutus who is about 1-2 and Fred, who is about 1-2... I love my fishies... and it's still hard to loose one!

aww :*( thats too bad. I have a male/female pair in my tank with angels and long black-finned tetras. They all seem to respect each other. The male, I've had for almost 3 years now. He can be grumpy :P

Gouramis, and tiger barbs, I wouldnt keep them with. I've had luck keeping them in a tank with mollys, however.

I've found though if you keep a fake plant, a BIG ONE, floating at the top of your tank, the bettas will make a home in there. I have a plant, it's about 10" long, and all viney, and red in color. When things get too riled up in the tank, he goes up into the red plant, and since he's red too, he dissapeers from sight. Bettas are top-water fish anyhow. They live, breath, feed, and breed up there. He's happy on his shelf/plant. ANd the plant doesnt seem to get in the way of anything anyhow, the light passes through it.

If you ever try a betta in there again, you should trythe plant idea. Just buy a matching plant (they coe in ever color anyway) and let it float at the top. Your betta will likley make his home there instinctively.
