I was in Petcetera the other day looking for a new, low fat cat food to add to the hedgies diet. I was busy reading ingredients and analysis information on each bag and came across a bag of Techni-Cal. Techi-Cal is a Canadian made cat food, with what I consider an excellent list of ingredients with NO by products. I was impressed, so I decided to buy a bag of the Weight Control. I get to the cash register and to my surprise, the bag cost $9.05. That's the cheapest food I've gotten away with yet.

I've decided to switch my girls to a Techni-Cal diet once their current mix of food runs out. I plan on buying the Adult formula and mixing it with the Weight Control formula. I think that should be sufficient for the girls.

Not a very good food, the VERY first ingredient is ground corn. Corn is HIGHLY undigestable. The next two ingredients are chicken meal and ground rice. Honestly, there are much better foods out there. :|

The only problem I see with the Techni-Cal food is that first three ingedients are not all meat. The first is Chicken Meal but the second is Ground Rice and the third is Ground Corn. I may be mistaken but I think food with atleast the first two ingredients being meat is preferrable. This is for the adult food. The fat and protein look okay.

Chicken meal, ground rice, ground corn, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a source of vitamin E, and citric acid), corn gluten meal, chicken, whole dried egg, herring meal, beet pulp, natural flavour, cultured yeast, sodium tripolyphosphate, potassium chloride, phosphoric acid, calcium chloride, dicalcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, dl-methionine, choline chloride, vitamins (vitamin E, vitamin C, niacin, inositol, vitamin A, thiamine mononitrate, d-calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, vitamin K, beta-carotene, vitamin D3, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12), minerals (zinc proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc oxide, iron proteinate, copper sulfate, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, calcium iodate, sodium selenite), taurine, ascorbyl-polyphosphate, yucca schidigera extract, dried rosemary.
