We have a situation my friends.
I have been in email contact with one of our newest members who goes by the name of "who00knows". He has had his two month old hedgie for about a week and has been working really hard getting to know this hedgie and doing research and everything. He has been an excellent parent!
Well, his new hedgie, Ernie, is a she, not a he and has given birth! She now has two babies and maybe more on the way.
Can you fine breeders find it in your heart to offer advice here? I have no knowledge of babies but I know that there can be all kinds of problems and I think that we all would want mom and babies to make it through this!
Breeders, and anyone who has raised a baby,,, PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Best advice I can give when it comes to new hedgie moms and babies what I like to call LTTHA- or leave them the heck alone! LOL
That is what I tell anyone who asks me about new born babies- I tell them to do just the very basics- food and water- and leave the rest alone.
Other then that, I wish your friend good luck with the little ones! Keep us updated!

He is at work now, will back on line later tonight. I talked to him on the phone, sounds like a proud dad!!
All advice from anyone who has been through something like this would be helpful.
Thanks everybody!

She is feeding. I was really worried that she was not going to feed them. How long does birth go on for? Should I put a heating pad under the cage? any other tips? I really would love to have them survive! I am a little overwhelmed! I just figured out she was a girl last night and my biggest concern with her was finding her a new name! Now I have 2 more! haha! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A heating pad would be helpful. Take out the wheel. And then let her be. Do not bug her or clean her cage. Just give her fresh food and water. Try to keep it as quiet as possible around her. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted! :)

I will remove all the toys today when I get home? Is picking up her cage to put the pad underneath going to upset her? How much longer should I expect the possibility of more hogs? I just want to keep a close eye on her.

I wouldn't put the heating pad under her cage unless she has been used to having one. You don't want her too warm and make her have to move her nest. I would suggest just making sure the room is warm but not a great deal warmer than she is used to.
I love how Laura put it... LTTHA
I actually emailed you after a email for help from Billy.
