Hey everyone,
I just got a Heggie and I was wondering about Heggie ears. My girls one ear has a lot of wax in it. I was wondering if most Heggies ears or like this, or if they or like dog/cat ears and mostly clean? Do you need to clean Heggies ears out?
Thanks for the help,
Zhaleen.

They are supposed to be clean. If she will let you, try swabbing the ear with a cotton ball dipped in mineral oil. Once clean, they should stay that way. If they keep getting dirty, there may be a problem like an ear infection or ear mites.

Has she had a vet visit yet? When I first got Frodo, he had crusty stuff on his ears and in them. It turned out that he had a very bad ear infection that required vet attention. His ears are now perfectly smooth and clean! I recommend a first time vet visit to check for this and any other problems that she may have so that you start out with a healthy hedgie.
It's a personal preference of mine, but I had Frodo gassed (sedated) to ensure a complete exam. That way the vet was also able to check his teeth, heartbeat ect.. and treat the awful sore that was on his belly. The gassing didn't cost very much and Frodo came through it just fine. Don't forget to take a feces sample with you!

I have a Vet check up for this next week. I just wanted to see what everyone thought, because I didn't know what Heggies ears should look like. I didn't want to be a worry wort over nothing LOL. Thanks everyone.

Yep I was going to say mites. I used to foster guinea pigs and they would get icky build up in thier ears when they had mites. Good luck at the vets.
