My boyfriend (Jan) got Quest for me as a surprise 2 weeks ago. She is "all mine" and not his responsibility. (he says with his arms crossed and a serious face)
Holding her in the morning when I clean her cage is his contribution but then he gives her back right away.
Whenever he regails others with stories of her cutness he is always clear that she is "mine".
Yesterday I came home from work and her cage was open and she was not in it. I wigged out and after searching all he usual denning areas I went into his office to ask if he'd seen her. There they were, on the couch, the two of them. Quest laying on his hand snuggled up to his chest so realaxed that she looked like a puddle of quills. I quietly shut the door and left them alone. He put her back in the cage with no comment.
Later that night I overheard him talking with a group of our friends. He said that he really has put up barriers about getting attached to any other animals since his cat of 18 years (Guess) passed away in 2001. For him it was just too painful of an experience loosing Guess. But somehow Quest has wiggled her way into his heart. She is so trusting and totally adorable that she's lept over his barriers and now resides firmly in his heart.
Now if that doesn't just warm your heart I don't know what will. I'm trying to get some pictures of the two of them snuggled but everywhere they hang out I need a flash and I want it to be on the fly. Keep you posted.
