ok, so ruby's home and all is well. kind of. all she does is sleep! even at night.... i checked on her a lot last night, and finally i went to bed at 2:00 a.m. last night and she was asleep the whole time. she's only been home for 24 hours, so maybe she just had a stressful day and she needed sleep..... i want to try and start getting her used to me, but i don't want to disturb her sleep either. i know she was up last night, because it looks like she's been in her wheel. but every time i go up there to look at her, she's in her igloo. should i just wake her up in the late evening and watch tv with her, or should i wait until i see her awake?

Young hedgies sleep alot, heck I would sleep alot if i could. I would let her be for a day or two and then you could wake her up around 8:30 or 9 and play with her, both of mine are awake at exactly 8:30 it seems and ready to play

mine slept a lot too when i first got him, i thought that that would be all he would ever do, it took us about a month to get setteled into a routine , now when i turn out my light ( around 11) he gets up and he is usually up at about 7:30-8:00 too but then he goes back to sleep till i go to bed ten he gets up and runs, i think that it just takes them a little while to get setteled in.

I wouldn't worry too much. Jake is 1 1/2 and sometimes he sleeps through the night. Just make sure the temp is not too hot (over 80), not too cold (below 72) and just let the baby get settled in. You'll get into a routine in no time. You can wake her up in the evenings to play and cuddle. She'll probably curl up on your lap and go back to sleep.
Congrats on being a new hedgie mom! :D

Let me know how your first interactions with Ruby go. Try dimming the lights for your hedgie by a bit in the evening when you want her up. No one likes bright light upon awakeing.
