Has anyone heard of any meds or treatments that might ease WHS? There might not be a cure but I feel so helpless not doing anything for Poodge.
My vet isn't familiar with any course of treatement for WHS that's medically approved or even experimental.
I thought I'd come to you guys and ask you all what your vets have done or potentially might recomend should the situation arise.
There is just not enough research/information on this disease.

Thanks For Reading,

Poodge's Mom,
Pringle is on Metacam. He gets .07 ml in the morning and .07 ml at night. He takes this with food. It does not treat WHS, but it is an anti-inflamatory med. He was on this when we thought he only had a sprain or something the xray did not pick up. The vet wanted me to keep him on it so that if the WHS was going to inflame his muscles as they become paralyzed it would ease any uncomfort. As far as I know there are no meds to treat the disease. He was also given a mash type food (smells so gross) for critters. This mash is a bunch of healthy stuff mixed together life vitamins, etc. I was giving it to him as much as I could (b\c thats what my second opinion vet said) and he got massive diarriea from it. I will start him on it again in a day or two in limited doses. The important thing to remember is that WHS is not painful. I asked this question about 100 times. It is dealing with the nerves and once the nerves are damaged from WHS they cant send the signals to thew brain, i.e....walking correctly, standing, etc. They are not in pain when they become paralyzed, its just like a person who becomes paralyzed. They cant use their muscles. You are doing all you can to help Poodge and I feel thankful that I can discuss this with someone right now who is just as concerned and upset as I am. Let me know if I can be any more help
