Greetings! I found this site from a local chin breeder who recommended it to me. I have two female standard sisters that I got from a store in September of '04. It was a small local store and they got my girls from a friend of a worker there who was moving. So, I got lucky in knowing background info(age, genes, etc.)and they were quite sad when we took them because they got lots of love there.
It turns out that good chins aren't as available around here as we thought they were. We're currently hunting for a male to begin our breeding-nothing for show, just for fun.
Enough about my cute ones, how about me?! My name is Jess, I'm 20, and I'm a college student at Iowa State University. My husband and I share a decently sized apartment with one whole room being converted into the 'pet room'. We also have 3 rats with us currently. There short life span always breaks my heart, but my first rat made me fall in love forever.
My husband was the one that convinced me to get chinchillas. I had my heart set on sugar-gliders(those eyes stare right into your heart!), but then he turned me on to chinchillas.
Our girls are named Mingo and Shelby. Mingo is the fiesty one-she's also the one considered to be mine. Shelby is our wild one and I think she'll get pregnant first. They H A T E the rats. We had originally been told that they got along with everything....yeah right. The stand up stomping and peeing dance still is quite funny. We don't let them play together anymore.
My husband is being wonderful and moving his desk out of their room. We'll need the space for other cages and his wires are irresistible to munch. When he does, we'll officially have our 'pet room' so they can run and play all they wish.
So that's me and our babies! I look forward to stories and sharing baby adventures!
