My oldest and first hedgehog Wally was about 4 yrs old when I chose to put him down due to his advancing cancer and poor health

I had a hedgehog that died at 4 and half, one that died at 8 months to a year, one that died almost exactly at 2 (Malachite) and another I think was 2 or 3 but I can't be sure because I didn't have a birthdate.

One had cancer, one had WHS and one was a mystery.
Trust me when I say nothing was lacking in the care provided.
Like everyone has been trying to tell you in your other post, hedgehogs have LOTS of congential problems.

My very first hedgehog was 7 1/2 + when she died, so I voted for that one, but 3-5 is much more common. Without some kind of major health issue, my crew usually lives somewhere around 4-5 until they start going down due to age issues.

That is quite amazing. I have never heard from a reliable source of any hedgehogs living over about 9 1/2. A 13 year old is especially amazing. She must have been very close to one of the early imports, since hedgehogs were imported into north america around 1990, and probably one of the very earliest albinos born, though I don't know exactly when the first binos started showing up.

3-5 is a common age? That can't be good my Daisy is 2 allready. I've told her that she has to hang in there for at least another 5 years.
