Hi, as you all know I have a ten week old female hedgehog, I got her from petcetera last week and she was supposed to be a he, anyways she cleaned her food dish last night which holds about two tables spoons of food, shes never eaten it all before, she has growna amsll amount in the lst week but still she ener cleans the dish, now supposibly there was a male housed with my girl at petcetera(thou they cant sex them real well) now I've heard they can breed as earl s six weeks meaning if my girl was truely housed with her sibling theres a good chance of her being pregnant, I came to this conclusion after I saw she finshed all of her ofo dna well he belly seems a bit bigger then normal but maybe I'm just parinoid, my question is if she is pregnant at such a young age will she surive the pregnancy and labor I mean what are her chances? I do know that some adult females are no bigger then she is now does this make a difference? also I havent found much on this subject yet... is it possible to tell when the females pregnant? any advice is welcomed.

I would keep close tabs on her over the next few weeks. I suggest getting a digital scale so you can moniter her weight gain. My Annabelle was only 9 weeks old when I adopted her. She had also been living with her brothers for 3 weeks longer than she should have. On top of giardia and a pyometra, she was also pregnant. My vet and I discovered this after a signigicant weight gain over a 2 week period. I opted to have her spayed at 11 weeks because the risk of her dying was much greater if I were to allow her to try and have these babies. ~$400 later Annabelle was on the road to recovery from all of her ailments.
It is definitely not recommended to let them be bred at such a young age because they are literally babies themselves. Odds of a successful pregnancy are pretty slim.
A vet check is a good idea!

I wouldn't put too much faith in the size theory determining sex. I weighed Annabelle everyother day and she gained quite a bit of weight in the 2 week period before I had he spayed. Almost 60 grams.
Good luck!

That's about an average weight for her age if anything a bit light but it just depends on the hog. Weighing her daily won't really tell you if she's pregnant or just growing. Many of mine gained 100g at around that age. Even food intake won't help much as young hedgehogs eat alot.
Why don't you just go back to the store and see what the other one was. If it won't unball but it in an aquarium and look underneath. You could also take her to the vet to find out.
Lets hope she isn't. :)
