View Full Version : Should I be worried?

For the last 2 days all Quest wants to do is sleep. She's been eating about 3/4 her normal amount of food and pooping right by her food bowl instead of using the litter box like she always has in the past. When I got up this morning she has used her wheel to poop in but obviously not for exercise as it wasn't spread all over the inside of the wheel as usual. When I get her out for her daily floor exercise she runs around for about 5 minutes then just wants to go in the corner and sleep. I am in the process of changing her food (she gets 2/3 Pretty Pets & 1/3 Spike's Delite Chicken and Rice). She'll be 12 weeks old this coming Sunday. Should I be worried?

Well 3/4 is still a decent amount and at least she is pooing...have you changed anything in her cage that she could be protesting? Just make sure that she has good temperature is walking fine eating an pooing...my pig went throught a similar thing for a couple days she was hardly eating or running but i had just changed her bed and she liked it...i mean really liked it all she did was sleep. Maybe she is bored??? when i changed bedding to the liners my boy started pooing all over i think as a mini protest. or like people she might just feel lazy...just keep an eye on her is she walkign fine does her poo have normal consistency, is she getting enough light etc...
if so you might just have to wait it out it could be an anti wheel phase. still she may have run on her wheel sometimes when my girl runs the poo just sits there on the wheel but before it use to be smeared...so it is possible that she is secretly wheeling
good luck
and keep us posted

You've had her what, three weeks now? That's not very long and she could still be settling down. Also she is still quite young, still developing her personility and I would be surprised if she DID'NT sleep a lot.
If she pooped on her wheel, chances are she is running in it even if she is not spreading it all around. That she is getting daily freedom time is great news and I am very glad to hear it.
I didn't see anything in your post that should be cause for worry.
Relax, I've read all of your previous post and it sounds like your doing a great job! Your asking very good questions and listening to the advice given. Your doing just fine.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. I just want her to be well adjusted and healthy. She's a huge part of my life now and I just want to make sure she'll be that way for a long time.

Maybe just the plain wheel is too boring and she needed some obstacles to avoid in her exercise so she created her own hurdles. Hmmm... I told you guys she is the smartest hedgie (with the exception of Frodo who can read) in the world!!

Thank you all for being there for encouragement.
