As most of you know, Ive been fighting with Murdoc axp. 2 months now, trying to get him to eat normally. During this time his weight has continued to drop drastically. He was a full figured 630 grams when I got him, and now weighs in at 315 grams. The biggest drop was this week when he went from 409 grams on Sunday to 315 grams on Wednesday.

We have been in and out of vets offices (two different vets in fact!) , and none of the vets seemed to be worried at all. Physical exams, mite checks, oral exams, x-rays have all turned up nothing. One vet even told me to read up MORE on hedgies- because she didnt think I knew enough. Hate to break it to her- but if she would have shut up and let me talk, she would have quickly seen that I know plenty!

Anyway, I give up! Im tired of trying to trick him into eating, Im tired of trying to starve him into eating (leaving plain food in his cage that he wont eat, in hopes that he will get hungry enough to eat it), Im tired of waking up each morning to see a food bowl that has barely been touched, and a wheel that just isnt dirty enough. Who would have ever thought it would come to the day Id welcome a dirty wheel?

Last night I tried something different. I gave into him completely. I ended up giving him a blob of chicken baby food, and another blob of Wellness wet cat food. This morning to my delight both bowls were EMPTY!

So anyway- Murdoc, I hope your proud of yourself, because you my little brat WIN! YOU WIN!
If you want to eat just plain food like that, then please, eat it to your hearts delight. Just please, please, stop losing weight buddy :( Youre starting to drive your mom crazy with worry!

I'll keep everyone updated...

Bosco ate an entire bowl of kibbles last night, plus the wet cat food- just to rub it in my face that his brother is the world's fussiest eater! ;)

Someone help! My children are driving me nuts!

And I wouldnt have them any other way

Oh Laura, bless your heart! I know how hard you've been trying. If you want, I can send you some of that food we were talking about earlier.

Oh man I had the same thing with Zoe a year back or so. For about 3 months she would not touch normal food. I had to baby her and give her the nice soft food that she wanted. She eventually grew out of it and hopefully so will Murdoc. Wish I had more advice but I feel you pain. I couldn't force it on Zoe either, it was on her own terms. My children are also very stuborn lol! :)

Oh Vanessa- your story gives me hope LOL Ive been keeping my fingers crossed for a while now that he will just start eating normally on his own again- so far no luck. However, we arent at 3 months of this yet....there is still time LOL

Billy- that is so kind of you to offer :) Youve been such a good friend (and uncle!) to both me and the boys. Thank you!

They know how to push our buttons Laura! One day soon, Murdoc will eat better on his own and give you a look that says "I like to do things my way". Hang in there!
